Mdm Khoo & Family

Mdm Khoo has dementia. Uplifting her and her family with sustained impact

Mdm Khoo has dementia. She lives with her daughter Lucy and her family. Mdm Khoo’s sudden and unprovoked mood swings caused tension almost weekly in the family. Channel News Asia challenged us to “take Mdm Khoo up a few notches on the happiness metre”. We have never met the family before and had just one shot to achieve this.

Watch the video to see how Mdm Khoo became so much livelier and lucid. Initially repeating a story that happened 20 years ago, she began sharing the previous week’s events later in the session. Everyone was uplifted, moved, including the film crew.

Lucy wrote: "It’s been a few weeks now and until today, my mom still remembers fondly the songs we sang together using the Soundbeam equipment. Her moods have also been very positive since. We thus decided to purchase a set of Soundbeam equipment ourselves. We applaud you and your team for the meaningful work you all are doing in using Soundbeam to actively engage seniors through music. We are confident I’m Soul Inc will continue to bring joy to many, even in the midst of this pandemic.”

The music plays on. The impact sustains. Grandson Samuel has become one of I’m Soul Inc’s Music Ambassadors.
