Staff engagement, meaningful CSR that creates M.A.G.I.C.
The M.A.G.I.C. CARES Van programme is sponsored by ComfortDelGro as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). An international transportation company with more than 40,000 staff across the world, it is convinced that partnering I’m Soul Inc helps them enhance their CSR efforts by (i) increasing staff volunteerism and bonding across different locations and (ii) extending community outreach. Targeting seniors living in the heartlands, we aim to reduce loneliness and social isolation.
First, I’m Soul Inc empowered staff in SBS Transit (the Bus division). Every week, a group of staff volunteers go with our I’m Soul Inc team to make music with seniors in the void decks of the HDB heartlands giving them a full mind, body and soul workout.
The programme was launched on 10 Oct 2019 by Mr Khaw Boon Wan, Coordinating Minister for National Development and Minister of Transport, at the Toa Payoh Bus Interchange. More than 60 staff and seniors sang, danced and did a flash mob with gusto for guests and commuters. Minister Khaw praised the programme for getting the bus drivers moving; their work being mostly sedentary and the deeper community bonds. The bus drivers shared how they now look out for familiar faces when commuters board their bus. The press and media covered the event in various languages.
The pandemic stopped all sessions for more than 2 years. In Dec 2023, we are back. Come along to the pavilion at Block 62A Strathmore Avenue in Queenstown and Block 320 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1 to catch the action. Seniors can register with the Presbyterian Community Services Esther Active Ageing Centre and Lions Befrienders AMK to join in the Music Movercise.
